From 135 Geographic Squadron Royal Engineers: Roberts’ tenure as Mayor of Epsom and Ewell saw significant positive interactions with the Squadron. Of note he attended ‘Kitchener’s March’ in January 2015 (an OP REFLECT related event to mark General Kitchener’s inspection of troops on Epsom Downs in 1914) in his Mayoral capacity, with his wife Rosemary. Always enthusiastic about the Squadron he also attended Squadron Remembrance Parades annually and continued to do so after his time as Mayor such was his desire to integrate with us. The Squadron remembers Robert as a genuine person and always, with his wife, concerned with the welfare and wellbeing of others and charitable causes. He related easily to all he came into contact with and his empathy was second to none. We feel his loss keenly and Robert will for evermore be an ‘Absent Friend’.
