We met Councillor Foote some years ago when both my husband and I used to attend the local Neighbourhood Police Panel. At that time we were experiencing a worrying problem of HGV lorries parking frequently in our road while the drivers visited a local cafe. The problem intensified when they continued to arrive in convoy with as many as eight parked together. Those residents brave enough to challenge the drivers were often met with unsocial and threatening behaviour. Councillor Foote having witnessed these parked lorries when passing by on his motorbike took the trouble to visit us and offered his support. He recognised the danger that their presence caused to residents and pedestrians. Together with the joint efforts of the Police the lorries never returned. That was some years ago but we have never forgotten this kindly man and his concern for our safety. We also met Rosemary who often used to attend these meetings. Such a great loss. Our condolences to their family and friends. May they rest in peace. Carol and Geoff Miller.
